One of the Ahmedabad blast accused, Tausif khan alias Atique, was arrested in Gaya with two other suspects from a cyber cafe in Rajendra Nagar Civil Lines locality. Tausif was residing here with his changed name Atique and offering tuition of Math, Science and English subjects to students. Photo of Tausif matched with the advertisement released by the police in newspapers. Gujarat Police was searching Tausif since the blast. ADG headquarter SK singhal said, “Tausif was living in Gaya after the Ahmedabad blast.”
These accused have admitted to the link with Indian Mujahidin. Two others arrested include Sana Khan and Sarwar Salahi. Sana Khan is in acquaintance with Tausif. He had provided placement to Tausif as a teacher in a private school, Mumtaz Public School. Sarwar Salahi is owner of the school.
According to police officials, four persons including Tausif used to regularly come to Vishnu cafe, to exchange information for long duration. On Wednesday too, all four came to the cafe, but owner of the cafe, Anurag Basu, asked them to produce Aadhar ID for internet access, but they could not give the copy of Aadhar and walked out from the cafe and boarded on cycle rickshaw. Anurag doubted and informed local police, until he followed the four and finally police arrested two of them including Tausif and Shana Khan with help of the cafe owner. Another two managed to evade the police. Police took the computers into their custody, used by Tausif.
Three state security agencies including Gujarat and Bihar ATS and NIA interrogated almost 16 hours all three terror suspects. Another arrested Sarwar Salahi was nabbed by police, based on the tip=off given by the two already arrested persons first. Police have recovered a book from Tausif on ‘Jihad’ published in Pakistan. Police are also scanning a pen drive recovered from Tausif.
It is being believed that Tausif was controlling network in North-East area of India from Gaya. Now, Gujarat police will take Tausif on transit remand.
Tausif works engineer in electronics and communication from a college of Nandubag in Maharastra between 2001 and 2005. He is a native of Ahmedabad. After Ahmedabab blast, he had fled to Myanmar and then entered India from West Bengal side. The blast took place on July 26, 2008 in which 56 persons had lost their lives.
