Even as the date for the release of the film nears, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ has mired into controversy. Various Rajput organisations havegiven a call for Chittorgarh Bandh on December 1, the date for release of the film. The Genesis of the issue is that the film shows the romantic relationship between Padmavati with Allaudin Khilji.
Meanwhile, the tourism minister of Maharashtra, Jaikumar Rawal, has raised a demand for imposing ban on the film’s release. Labelling Khilji with more terrorist character than that of today’s IS, he said that the historical facts have been tampered with in the film and advised the Censor Board to be careful while giving it’s not for such film’s.
On the other, Union minister, Uma Bharti has also expressed her concern over the film. In another interesting twist, the election commission has dismissed a petition in which it had been demanded to impose ban on the film’s release, keeping in view the forthcoming Assembly elections in Gujarat.
