‘Huge public money spent to arrange crowd for CM’s Yatra’

RJD chief Lalu Prasad alleged scam in the name of Yatra of CM Nitish Kumar. Lalu levelled allegation on the state government and said, “Huge amount almost Rs 10 crore was spent for arrangement of crowd on each district for public meeting during Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Vikash Samiksha Yatra (development review campaign). Jeevika Didi, Tola Sevak and Vikash Mitra were given assignment to bring crowd. It is nothing, only ‘polish the image’ and publicise achivements of his party JD (U).”

Lalu was talking to mediapersons in a Press conference at his 10, Circular Road residence in Patna. He gave reference to a letter issued by Bihar Rural Livlihoods Promotion Samiti (BRLPS) which runs jiveeka and said, “In the order issued by BRLPS office, jiveeka functionaries were told to arrange gathering of around 4,000 for each public meeting venue.” ‘Rs 75 was spent on each jiveeka didi for their lunch. So, there was no general public in  the Aam Sabha (Public Meeting) of the CM Nitish Kumar during his Yatra, except Jiveeka didis. Poor people were not allowed in the meeting of the CM,’ he added.

RJD chief demanded investigation into the CM’s Vikash Samiksha Yatra (campaign) which concluded on Saturday and all previous Yatras to assess cost of public money spent on it.

Bihar CM, Nitish Kumar was on the Vikash Samiksha Yatra since December 12 to review status of welfare schemes of the government on ground to different districts of Bihar. He visited districts where he had gone in 2009 on a Yatra.
