SRCC Children’s Hospital Managed by Narayana Health celebrated World Cerebral Palsy Day, for the children suffering from Cerebral Palsy and received inspiring responses from parents. The event comprised of a Grand Carnival filled with fun loving activities for children with special needs, entertainment programme by mainstream students from nearby schools, workshops and a Q/A session for the parents with senior doctors for discussion and guidance. Cerebral palsy, a brain disorder, becoming the most common cause of childhood disability in India, 6th October is ear-marked and celebrated as World Cerebral Palsy Day in more than 60 countries.
Dr Purna Kurkure, Medical Director at SRCC-Narayana Health, said, “Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common physical disability in childhood and is also one of the least understood. We at Narayana Health intends to create awareness of the disease among parents since many individuals and their families lack access to basic information and support related to this problems. We will also be offering free consultancy to children with special needs. Through World CP Day, we will join together to combine our resources, energy and knowledge for the betterment of the society.”
