“Our hit show bonds Indians worldwide” – Harshad Joshi


Produced by a distinguished producer, Asitbhai Modi; ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah or TMKOC’ is telecast everyday on SAB TV across the globe. This hit comedy show produced under the banner of Neela Telefilms went on-air on July 28, 2008 and completed telecast of 2700 episodes recently.

In an exclusive interaction with ME, the show’s perfectionist director, also known to be a very easy-going person and a pleasant personality, Harshadbhai Joshi; said, “TMKOC has revolutionized the concept of comedy in the Indian entertainment industry. Our producer Asitbhai Modi’s philosophy of producing a family-oriented, informative and a humorous show has won the hearts of millions of viewers across the globe.”

“Before shooting every scene, I study the script and its dialogues. If necessary, I add wit to make the scene more humorous. I discuss the script with actors and incorporate their inputs too in the dialogues. Also, I motivate my actors to deliver their best performance. I purse them to follow the motto: Play, Pray and Perform. The philosophy of our production house, Neela Telefilms headed by veteran producer Asit Modi; is to encourage actors, directors, technicians and the crew of TMKOC works as a united team,” he added.

TMKOC has gained huge popularity in each and every country because in every episode, it communicates social messages in a humorous manner. The show depicts comedy in a lucid way. Which is way, this show is a grand success amongst adults as well as the kids. The show’s viewership is massive currently. Through TMKOC, Neela Telefilms has managed to strengthen a bond of emotions amongst Indians living across the globe.

Few episodes of TMKOC were recently shot in Singapore, and also on a cruise ship. TMKOC is perhaps the first Indian television show to be shot aboard a luxury cruise liner.
