SC gives consent to hear petition filed against Nitish


Supreme Court will hear the petition which has been filed against  Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar in a case relating to the allegation to hide pending murder charge case against him in the affidavit submitted for election nomination. The bench of the court, Chief Justice Dipak Mishra, Justice A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud sought response from Election Commission in next four week in this case.

Petitioner lawyer ML Sharma requested cancellation of membership of Nitish Kumar from Legislative Council. Sharma claimed that the Election Commission was conversant about the pending case against Nitish Kumar, but didn’t take notice.

According to petition, the murder case against leader of JD (U) was filed in 1991 before by election of Barh Lok Sabha Constituency in which Sitaram Singh, a local Congress leader, had lost his life and four other got injured.

It is noted that RJD president Lalu Prasad had also raised this matter after severing his ties from JD (U) and RJD and new government took shape in Bihar of NDA’s alliance.
