Shootout in a hotel, 5 accused arrested Firing took place at the wee hours at the hotel Orange Mint Cafe, in front of K-Star Mall in the Gowandi area of New Mumbai on Friday.
One Rakesh Sonawane and Shweta Pande both staying at Sion-Koliwada had purchased a second hand car from one, Jatin Ahuja of Navi Mumbai. According to Jatin, both were not paying the amount as per scheduled time.
The accused came to know that both Rakesh Sonawane and Shweta Pande are celebrating a birthday party in the said hotel..
As Jatin was well familiar with the place, he took his car and rushed to the hotel from his residence. His wife, Praveena and his servant, Rahul Bhosale also accompanied him.
On reaching to the hotel, he fired first round in air as soon as he came out of his car. All of them subsequently went upstairs in party hall where he fired another round aiming at Rakesh and Praveena but both had a miraculous escape.
API Santosh Kamble and detection staff of Chembur police station, while passing through the area, caught hold of Jateen and other accued on the spot.
A case u/s 307,336, 353, 143, 147, 148, 149, IPC, r/w Sec 3, 25 of Arms Act has been registered on the complaint of Shweta Ramnarayan Pande against 7 – 8 accused at Gowandi Police Station.
Unlicenced 7.65 mm Pistol alongwith two empty catridges and a live round have been recovered in the incident. Accused will be produced before Court tomorrow.
